How do I get my bestsmile bleaching?

Open Close

Bleaching is only available if you opt for the aligner treatment of both jaws. You will find your free home bleaching kit in your aligner box.

What is included in the bestsmile home bleaching kit?

Open Close

The home bleaching kit contains 2 syringes of the bleaching gel Opalescence PF 10%. To whiten your teeth, simply distribute the bleaching gel evenly into your aligners.

What does the bestsmile bleaching do?

Open Close

With your home bleaching kit you can brighten up your teeth and remove discolourations

caused by, for example, alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee or fruit juices.

How do I apply the bestsmile bleaching?

Open Close

Apply a thin and even layer of the bleaching gel into your aligners – from molar to molar. Then insert the aligners as usual.

If gel leaks out of an aligner, remove it with a clean cotton swab.

How long does it take for the bleaching gel to work?

Open Close

For best results, leave the bleaching gel on for several hours. We recommend leaving it on overnight:

Opalescence PF 10%: 8–10 hours

Opalescence PF 16%: 4–6 hours

The bleaching gel provided is sufficient for 2–3 applications per syringe.

As long as no attachments have been used, you can whiten your teeth at any time during your aligner treatment.

Do I have to leave the bleaching gel on for several hours at a time?

Open Close

You may also apply the bleaching gel throughout the day. This won’t affect your whitening. The important thing is that you leave the gel on for a total of approx. 8–10 hours (Opalescence PF 10%) or 4–6 hours (Opalescence PF 16%).

What should I pay attention to after using the bleaching gel?

Open Close

Rinse your mouth twice with sufficient water and clean your aligners under lukewarm water and with a soft toothbrush. Make sure the water is not too hot, as it may cause the aligners to deform.

Important: the bleaching gel is non-edible and should be stored at room temperature. Water used to rinse off the gel residues should not be swallowed.

Can I eat anything during and after the bleaching?

Open Close

2–3 days after your bleaching, avoid strong pigmented foods such as red beet, curry, drinks containing colouring agents such as coffee or red wine, sugary drinks or acid fruits such as lemon or grapefruit.

Can I apply the bleaching gel even if I have attachments?

Open Close

If you have attachments, you can only start the bestsmile bleaching after they have been removed during the final check-up.

To apply the bleaching gel, simply use your retainer aligners.

Can fillings, veneers or dentures also be whitened with the bestsmile bleaching?

Open Close

No. The bleaching gel can only whiten natural tooth enamel.

Who is bleaching not suitable for?

Open Close

The bestsmile bleaching is not suitable for people under the age of 18, pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding and for people with serious health problems.

Furthermore, if you have an allergy or chemical sensitivity to any of the ingredients in the Opalescence gel (potassium nitrate and fluoride), you should not whiten your teeth.
